CALLING ALL .HACK//SIGN FANS!!!!

I HAVE TO KNOW! WHICH .HACK SERIES COMES FIRST?????

Yesterday my dad got the first five or six episodes of .hack//ROOTS from Netflix and we watched them... i thought it was a bit cheesy but the music was really good....

Anyway! ive been dying to know which comes first so i could start wathing the episodes online and reading the manga.

I asked someone whos played the games and watched it and all, but they gave me this really confusing explanation how you have to watch some little animations that come with the games, then the novels, then the game, then manga, then anime or some weird order like that....

but i cant play the game TT.TT

So if anyone can help me....

(Oh, and im still wanting tips and such on the improvement of the journal^^; Thank you *CosCy009 for giving me help with the color scheme ^.^ )
